Does anyone know if taking phentermine alone causes pulmonary hypertension?
Everyone knows that the Phen-Fen combo caused such problems, but I know doctors that still prescribe phentermine (some for a year or more) by itself. Can taking phentermine alone cause pulmonary hypertension? My doc said probably not, I’m just wondering what others have heard.

It can, yes. It’s like Vioxx. It can cause heart damage to persons who have a heart condition (high blood pressure, CHF, angina, etc. ) should never be prescribed Vioxx or Phentermine.
What is the most important information I should know about phentermine?
Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Phentermine may cause dizziness, blurred vision, or restlessness, and it may hide the symptoms of extreme tiredness. If you experience these effects, avoid hazardous activities.
Phentermine is habit forming. You can become physically and psychologically dependent on this medication, and withdrawal effects may occur if you stop taking it suddenly after several weeks of continuous use. Talk to your doctor about stopping this medication gradually.
Do not crush, chew or open any “once-daily” phentermine tablets or capsules. Swallow them whole.
In other words, it’s an “upper”, no it does not cause pulmonary hypertension.

I lost 112 pounds by losing it slowly. I was happy at losing 1-5 pounds amonth. It took me 1. 5 years to lose it but it is gone. I exercised daily so that I would not have the flabby skin. I started out only being able to walk 7 minutes and gave up that day. I went back out the next day and walked 15 minutes. I can now jog and love to jog 3-5 days per week up to 1 hour. You can do this !
