    1. There are usually no symptoms unless it is very advanced. If untreated for many years hypertension can cause vision loss, kidney damage, stroke, heart attack. If you are concerned that you have hypertension you should see a doctor.

    2. Most people with high blood pressure don’t have symptoms. The simplest and easiest way find out if you have it, is to check your blood pressure. You can do that at most drug stores for free.

At the beginning, most hypertensives do not feel anything only to discover at a routine blood pressure examination that their blood pressure is more than the normal of 120/80.

Starting symptoms like headaches, dizziness, nuchal pains, and palpitations are taken for granted or interpreted as eye problems, ear problem, muscle pains, and nervousness.

Blood pressure reading are different for each person. One person may have 100/60 as normal and he becomes hypertensive when his blood pressure rises to 130/80. Or, he may have a blood pressure of 90/60 but he may be hypertensive if his blood pressure rises to 120/80; the normal range of almost 90% of people. Thus, blood pressure readings should not be taken as is when done on the first consultation. The dictum is to have three blood pressure readings before declaring a person as hypertensive.

So what you can do for now is try to be conscious about your blood pressure readings. Plus, if your parents have hypertension then you could have the possibility of being hypertensive too.
