Anxiety/Seizure question?
Hello everyone about a week ago i started feeling numbness /tingling in fingers and toes, and feeling lightheaded, went to ER and they took blood pressure said everything was fine (i am young 27yrs old) and gave me antiaxiety pill. next morning i seemed fine but the symptoms returned later that nite, just feeling lightheaded dizzy numbness tingling feeling warm sometimes, like my hand or arm will start to feel warm or numb.
This has been constant for about a week now, constant tingling and numbness in fingers and toes. i feel dizzy lightheaded sometimes i feel i am about to pass out. ER said it was peripheral neuropathy with hyperventilation. i went to my doctor and he said it was nothing, just generalized anxiety. But im having trouble believing someone can feel numbness tingling/lighthead 24/7 with just anxiety. i did diabeties test after fasting came back normal. i am convinced i am having simple partial seizures for some reason, because these are the symptoms. . ne1 help?
Sometimes I get real dizzy too like I am about to faint, this happens 9 or 10 times a day recently. This never really happened to me before, jus started last week. I know what anxiety feels like, but this feels completely different like i am having many seizures or something. I had brain scan and eeg done about 14 yrs ago for an unrelated incident and everything came back normal. i was about 12 or 13 for about a week or two weeks i was feeling these weird sensations for about 5 seconds where i would start vibrating or something, then 1 day it didnt stop and the room started spinning, and i fell, i still remember it, but nothing has happened for about 15 yrs, so im not sure maybe this is related? i just dont think its possible that someone can have these weird sensations like feeling lightheaded and dizzy, numbness tingling feeling about to faint all day just because of anxiety, when i asked my doc he said it cant be seizures, but im not sure, any advice
Yeah they took blood pressure twice and it was fine. and im sure its not complex seizure because im not falling or passing out/losing concsiousness. i just have a strong feeling its epilepsy, maybe with anxiety as well, but the doc only said anxiety and i have a feeling there is epilepsy mixed in, even though he said he ruled that out (but he didnt even do any tests) he jus prescribed some antianxiety pills
1 last detail, sometimes ill be watching tv or just walking around and ill look around me and everything will just look completely unreal and ive felt this way a lot recently jus feeling dazed like i am floating
I went to the ER and the doc there it was around 3am told me it was neuropathy with hyperventilation, then the doc i went to today said it was anxiety, and not seizures, and not diabeties because im only 27, and not anemmia because this only happens in mostly females. they didnt do any tests this time, such as eeg or any nerve tests, all he did was hit both wrists with a thingy and asked me if i felt any difference, and i had to hold my hands and arms in a certain position, thats about it. i never really thought about it that it could be a pinched nerve, that seems more likely and woud explain why im feeling it 24/7, but i dont know what would have caused a pinched nerve, i dont do any physical activities, just pushups every night, and the doc never even mentioned a pinched nerve, but thanks for the help everyone

If you were having seizures you’d be losing time depending on the severity. You seem pretty aware of what’s going on. I had a seizure a few years ago, but it was a grand mal seizure, so I blacked out completely for about 45 minutes (no one was there to see it), but I woke up on my own.
Anything going on in your life that would be causing severe anxiety? I’ve never heard of someone having these symptoms because of anxiety, but hey. . I’m not a doctor.
Could be something nerve related. Were you in any accidents or did you pull any muscles, especially in the neck or back? Numbness and tingling is mostly nerve related. But combined with those other symptoms, I’m not really sure. Wait a few more days, make sure you’re staying hydrated and well fed and then head back to the doc.

i think what you have is anxiety, panic attack or hyperventilation. i have seen a lot of patients with that kind of symptoms numbness, sometimes tremors. palpitations, shortness of breath. you have to do deep breathing exercises. you could use a brown bag. If these symptoms always recur, you should seek psychiatry consult. The doctor will give you medications to control those symptoms.
What kind of Dr told you that you had neuropathy? Was a nerve conduction study done? Have you had a brain MRI? Numbness in the hands and feet usually points to diabetes but you have tested fine for that. I would look for a more simple explanation. . . . . I would guess you have a pinched nerve or disk problem in your neck or back. Try sleeping on your back without a pillow and take an Advil every 4 hours for a couple of days. If you sit at a desk make sure you are not hunched over. I know this sounds crazy but I have personally experienced these types of symptoms. I don’t think you are having seizures but you may be hyperventilating as a result of the anxiety of not knowing why you are feeling this way. If your symptoms improve with the Advil and posture correction you might want to see a physical therapist for some help with your back. Good luck and feel better.
