He even wipes his dirty hands on his hair. When we ask him why he does this, he doesn’t reply. He just stares at us. Sometimes he promises not to do it but he still does. My mother who is 73 is the main caregiver with the help of a maid who is there from 1-5 and then again from 9 in the night to 10 in the morning. She has to clean him up at least 2-3 times a day. It is taking a toll on all of us. My mother had a stroke last year and is not in the best of health herself. He is on levodopa and other PD medications for the last 3-4 years. Could someone tell me if this is a symptom of Parkinson’s Disease or does he require a psychiatrist? Or is it a combination of PD, dementia and Alzheimer’s? He has memory loss, drooling, difficulty swallowing and freezing of movement. He plays with the string of his pajamas for hours sometimes, and looks so blank it is frightening. Sometimes he seems lucid and sometimes he seems as if he doesn’t understand a thing. Someone please help!
